Moulie Vidas joined the faculty in 2012. His recent publications include Tradition and the Formation of the Talmud (Princeton University Press, 2014) and a collection of essays, co-edited with Catherine Chin, titled Late Ancient Knowing: Explorations in Intellectual History (University of California Press, 2015). He serves on the editorial boards of the book series Texts and Studies in Ancient Judaism and The Journal of Religion in the Roman Empire. He is currently working on a book titled The Emergence of Talmudic Culture: Scholarship and Religion in Late Ancient Palestine.
In addition to his appointments in the Religion Department and the Program in Judaic Studies, Vidas is associated with the Committee for the Study of Late Antiquity, the Program in the Ancient World, the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies, and the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Iran and Persian Gulf Studies.
