Funding

The Program in the Ancient World offers limited funding to its graduate students for summer study and research, including travel support for students engaged in fieldwork, participation on archaeological excavations or other training in the study of material culture, language instruction, and support for travel required by research at the pre-dissertation or dissertation stage. Students in the departments of Classics, History, Religion, and Art and Archaeology may apply.

In your application, please be sure to note the name of at least one faculty member who is familiar with your work and your summer plans. We do not require letters of recommendation.

Graduate students interested in applying for summer funding must submit their application through SAFE. Application details can be found under the opportunity in SAFE. For the 2023-24 academic year, the application period is from Monday, January 1, 2024 through Thursday, February 15, 2024.
